Rewind Saturday (on Sunday): New Year's Eve - Is It Really THAT Special?

Alright, here's another old article from my previous blog. I wrote this almost exactly one year ago, on 31st December 2011 (but probably during the night because at the end I wrote I hope you have a great party tomorrow :D). Hope you enjoy =)
Oh yea, and I'm not going anywhere this NYE.. I'm still sick (but a lot better) and I'm still taking medication so I'd be afraid I'll fall ill again.. Oh well, I'm spending NYE with Russian textbooks :D
Okay enough complaining, here's the article:

I wanted to say just a few words, again, about all the fuss around New Year's Eve. I know it is somewhat more special night than the other ones, alright, but it's kinda overrated, don't you think?

Let me talk about the "makeup side" of this story. This is a great time for all the YouTube gurus to get more visible because every girl wants to look all glamorous for the NYE and they search for NYE makeup tutorials around these days. I did it myself, I'm not saying that's bad =) But if you watch the videos, a lot of the makeup looks the famous gurus come up with, it's just a regular party look. So if you're searching for an inspiration for NYE, look up party makeup, sometimes those tutorials are even more interesting than the NYE ones... But the thing I wanted to talk about the most - all the gurus emphasize one thing - "you want your makeup to last throughout the whole night!" and tell you extra extra tips how to achieve that. That's alright too. But... Is it just me or.. Don't you ever, guys, go out during the year? Every one, once in a while, goes to a party where a long-lasting makeup is a must. So why do we treat NYE like some kind of a special event where your focus on long-lasting makeup should be greater than other times? The night lasts the same amount of time.

I don't mean to be bitchy or anything =) Just expressing my opinion. Because honestly, tomorrow I feel like I'm going to a party with my friends like during the year. Yes, there's definitely going to be a countdown but I don't care. I'm going to have fun with my friends like we always do when we get together. I get it that girls usually dress and do their make up differently, but do we really need to focus so much on that topic of everlasting makeup?

Alright, I'm not going to bore you with more of my babbling :D
Have a great party tomorrow, enjoy yourself and hopefully your make up will not crease or anything! :D

Thanks for reading, I think I'll be able to upload tomorrow so definitely stay tuned for that, subscribe to my youtube channel, you can also follow me on facebook and twitter.
Bye! =)

Rewind Saturdays - Visual Deception: Longer Looking Lashes

Hi everyone =)

I decided I'd transfer some of the articles from my old blog here. There are several articles that I still like and writing something almost the same doesn't really make sense since I already wrote something on that matter =) I'd like to do this every Saturday =)

I want to start with an article that got the most views, from my Visual Deception series - "Longer Looking lashes". I originally posted this on November 12, 2011.

So here you go:

Long eyelashes without using fake ones.. Who doesn't want those?

Do you have naturally quite long lashes but they get kinds lot after you put on your eye make up?
Let me show you a little trick how you can help your eyelashes look longer.
This article is going to be mostly helpful for those who are eyeliner lovers and line their eyes on daily basis.

Look at this picture:

Now take a look at this one:

The eyelashes are much more visible on the second one. You can see that this was taken on the same day, that I did not change anything about the lashes.

If you really need your eyelashes to be dominant in your look the solution is very simple - draw a thiner line with your eyeliner.
There is another solution but it takes up some time and who has that in the morning? =) You can apply more coats of mascara if that improves your lashes. And more coats means let what you've applied on your lashes dry and work like that again. But everybody's eyelashes are different so applying more coats may even make them look worse.

I hope you enjoyed this quick tip =)

Have a nice night,
Lena

Day To Night - Christmas Party Look + Foundation Routine [TUTORIAL]

Hey everyone!

I feel like it's been ages since my last tutorial. I got a new job at the end of November so I sort of needed to get used to a new routine but I finally took the time and filmed something =)

I attended a Christmas party last week (it was sort of a regular party with friends but we called it Christmas since it's Christmas in a few days :D) and so I had the opportunity to play around with eyeshadows. I then decided that I will definitely recreate the look and that's what I did. I also wanted to "spice it up a bit" and made a sort of a day to night look. I know except for the eyeliner I'm barely wearing anything, but it's just a tip for you that having bare lids, with no eyeshadows is the best if you're going out later on in the evening.

I'm also showing you my foundation routine. I don't use foundation on daily basis, I only use concealer and powder. But when I do use foundation, this is what I do.

Hope you enjoy this look, stay tuned for more! =)

KISS in Clubwash!

Hey everyone!

On Friday 23rd, I had the chance to do makeup on three waitresses in a club in Brno (CZ), Clubwash. They organize interesting events every Friday with a theme. Last Friday the theme was rock music and my job was to transform the waitresses into band KISS. This sort of makeup is always fun so I was really looking forward to it. Girls seemed to be satisfied with the result, I was too, even though I wish the "designs" were more symmetrical :D But I think I still need to work on that =)

In case you don't know who KISS is =)

I have to say I liked the Spaceman makeup the most. Mostly because it was not only filling everything in with black (which was fun too! =) ) but I could actually do kind of a smokey eye - from black to blue, up to the eyebrow. Plus I think the colors, silver, blue, black, look awesome together.

I really enjoyed doing this =) And I can't wait to film the rest of the KISS looks. I already posted the Starchild, watch here.

Here some more photos of the girls in the makeup =)

I hope I'll get a chance to do something like this again =)
Don't forget to check out the tutorial of Paul Stanley's makeup, you can subscribe to my youtube channel to get updates on my tutorials, you can also follow me on facebook and twitter.
Stay tuned =)
